Recently, Michael Vitch, president of Compu-Mail, sat down with Dan Miner of Buffalo Business First to discuss the staying power of print as a marketing medium, for a Business First post titled, In a digital world, print ads marking the biggest mark for this Grand Island firm.

Compu-Mail Direct Marketing president and co-owner Michael Vitch describes it like this: an advertisement that’s targeted specifically to a consumer via email is likely to be deleted, as a matter of process, even if that consumer requested it.But if that same offer comes on a printed card into a physical mailbox, then it sits around the house for days. And when the consumer is ready to address the issue – say, to call the mechanic for new car tires – they’ve got 15 percent off waiting on the side table.Even in this digital world, direct-mail marketing is far from dead, Vitch says. In fact, the company’s largest clients are increasing their print marketing budgets as data shows that magazines and physical coupons remain the best way to boost sales.
